About country

A country of authentic history, magnificent mountains, mineral springs, and excellent wine.

Georgia is the most ancient country, which has seen a lot during its centuries-old history. Each conqueror left his mark on the tortured body of the country, but no one broke the real Georgian character. It has been preserved to this day. Beautiful mountain landscapes, cities, and resorts with mineral springs, a culture that combines the spirit of Europe and Asia, incredibly delicious food, and excellent wine — that’s how you can describe modern Georgia. Speaking of wine, it is an integral part of the Georgian people. There is still a tradition in Georgia, which is passed down from generation to generation: when a child is born in a family, they lay down kvevri (clay vessels for wine), and they drink wine from it on the day of his maturity. As a rule, everyone who comes to this beautiful country takes a bottle of real Georgian wine with them. It has been considered here since ancient times: “a guest is a person who has come from God”, that is why you will be greeted with respect and friendliness everywhere and will undoubtedly be generously treated. Believe us, this country will not leave indifferent anybody who has visited it at least once.

Georgia is located in the Middle East, at the junction of Europe and Asia, in the western part of Transcaucasia. It neighbors with Russia in the north, Azerbaijan in the east, Armenia and Turkey in the south. The waters of the Black Sea washes its coast. Georgia’s territory has everything: towering mountains, mountain rivers, thick forests, alpine meadows, semi-deserts, glaciers, and gorges. The highest mountain settlement in Europe — Ushguli — is located n the region of Svaneti, at 2200 meters above sea level. It’s home to about 200 people. In the eastern part of the Khokh Range, on the border between Russia and Georgia, rises the mighty Mount Kazbek (5034 m). Many mountain-climbers dream of conquering this peak. The Kura River is the largest in the country. It has its origin in Turkey and flows through Georgia and Azerbaijan, flowing into the Caspian Sea.

Georgian is one of the Kartvelian languages, the state language of Georgia. Together with the Mingrelian, Svan and Lazei languages, they form the Kartvelian family. The language is widespread in Georgia, partly in Azerbaijan, Iran, Turkey, Russia. Up to 20 dialects are distinguished in the modern language
